Position Vacant: Shared Brand Ambassador (Melbourne)

 

Purpose of Role
The purpose of this role is to grow sales of three of the Alpine region’s most iconic brands in Melbourne and across Victoria:
Bright Brewery
Alpine Cider
Feathertop Winery

What we are looking for
The three family-owned, independent businesses seek to recruit a Melbourne-based Sales Leader/Brand Ambassador to establish a sales and distribution operation servicing Melbourne and Victoria. We are looking for an experienced sales person with a proven track record in the alcohol sales industry. The person will have an established network of contacts across major retailers, distributors, independent outlets and venues. The person will act as an ambassador for all three businesses and embrace the brand, values and lifestyle. The right person will be rewarded with an attractive package and work life balance.

Background
Bright Brewery is a family owned brewery, bar, restaurant and bike hub, located in the heart of Bright, Victoria, which has been established for 14 years. During this time, Bright Brewery has built a reputation for high quality beer and great customer service culminating in a gold awards at the Victorian Tourism Awards in 2017 and 2018. We have a very strong values-based approach to managing the business. Bright Brewery recently completed a multi-million-dollar investment to increase brewing capacity and can now continue to expand into a wider wholesale market.

Feathertop Winery is a family-owned winery & private estate positioned in Porepunkah, 8km from Bright. With 30 years of rich history in wine making & viticulture, we strive for both a premium product & sustainable business model. We are now looking to take our 22 handpicked wine varietals to an expansive wholesale market.

Alpine Cider The Nightingale family has been growing crisp, juicy apples in the Wandiligong Valley (5km from Bright) and alpine surrounds for over 60 years. The cool conditions in these regions concentrate the flavours to produce sweet juicy apples that go into making our modern crisp fruity ciders and sparkling juices. Naturally made from 100% family grown and hand picked apples. We  are keen to introduce our range to a new and wider market.

KEY TASKS
The key tasks that Sales Leader & Brand Ambassador perform are:

  • Drive the wholesale of Bright Brewery beers, Alpine cider and Feathertop wines to bottle-shops, restaurants, bars and venues, and other retail and hospitality outlets across Greater Melbourne.
  • Be an excellent ambassador for all three brands, values and lifestyle.
  • Achieve budgeted sales targets and KPIs.
  • Identify and capitalise on market opportunities to build sales and profitability.
  • Work autonomously to manage and grow accounts, as well as brand awareness and reputation.
  • Relationship management, including prioritisation of key customers and new customer development.
  • Providing a superior level of service to our customers.
  • Assist with establishing efficient systems and processes for the role.
  • Work with the Logistics Coordinators on ensuring timely and efficient movement of stock.
  • Work with the Sales & Marketing teams on growing sales and brand awareness across Victoria.
  • Organise in-store tastings and promotions and point of sale displays.
  • Identify realistic opportunities to increase sales.
  • Activate or host events both on and off premise, including festivals.
  • Report to Bright Brewery Sales & Marketing Manager.

Skills & Experience required

2+ years’ experience in wholesale sales related to liquor industry. Must have
Proven sales record and ability to manage a territory in a structured and planned manner. Must have
Established trade connections and relationships in the Melbourne market. Must have
Strong commercial and negotiation background. Must have
Understanding of the liquor market, on-premise and retail trade and trends. Must have
Excellent face-to-face and written communication skills. Must have
Ability to maintain strong and positive relationships with customers. Must have
Ability to identify customer needs and provide solutions. Must have
Experience managing participation at events. Must have
Ability to effectively prioritise tasks and manage time. Must have
Computer and social media savvy (E-mail, MS Word, MS Excel, social networking). Must have
Self-motivated, outcomes oriented, person of action. Must have
Drivers licence. Must have
Possess (or have the capability to develop) outstanding knowledge of beer and the brewing process, cider and cider making process, wine and wine making process. Must have
Process driven with strong attention to detail. Highly desirable
Strategic thinking to increase distribution and visibility of Bright Brewery, Alpine Cider and Feathertop Winery Highly desirable
Understanding of Business Finance software, such as Netsuite Highly desirable
Understanding of design software, such as Adobe Creative suite Highly desirable
Experience with CRM software Highly desirable
Hold a current RSA Highly desirable

 

Selection criteria

  • Experience and performance in a similar role.
  • Understanding of:
    • the wholesale liquor market,
    • business drivers for an independent business,
    • on-premise and retail trade,
    • beer-related events.

Remuneration
This is a full time permanent position that will involve after hours and weekend work on some occasions.

THE ROLE

The Venue Manager is accountable for delivery of great customer service to Brewery Door guests. This incorporates continually improving the Brewery Door service offering through recruiting the right people, ensuring they are trained, continuously improving our physical and intangible service offering, compliance with agreed process and maintaining high levels of motivation across the team.

REPORTS

This role reports to the Operations Manager

Manages the Bar Manager, Assistant Bar Manager, Supervisors and Brewery Door staff

Works closely with the Head Chef, Administration Manager, Marketing Manager and Head Brewer.

KEY TASKS

The key tasks that the Venue Manager performs are:

Ensure a safe environment at all times.
  • Ensure the safety of customers.
  • Ensure all staff are working within a safe environment and understand their workplace roles and responsibilities.
  • Accountable for compliance to all policies, regulations and procedures (especially HR & OH&S), including incident reporting and responsible service of alcohol.
  • Reporting any fixes or improvements in a timely manner.
  • Undertake regular Brewery Door safety audits and follow-up.
Customer Service
  • Ensure all customers feel welcome and are given responsive, friendly and courteous service.
  • Achieve agreed standards in terms of service, quality, appearance and cleanliness of the Brewery Door environment and equipment.
  • Work with Leadership Team to develop a 3-year service strategy to differentiate the Brewery Door service offering from alternative venues.
  • Creating a positive and productive working environment.
  • Collect customer feedback and address any issues.
  • Work with the Head Chef to create exciting beer-matched menus.
  • Implement changes and improvements to the IMPOS system (front and back office).
  • Deliver creative events and functions, both on-site and off-site.
Manage the Brewery Door Team
  • Provide leadership to the Brewery Door team.
  • Ensure 121s are carried out for all staff members.
  • Manage the recruitment, induction and training of new members of the Brewery Door team.
  • Manage rosters for Brewery Door staff and timely approval of timesheets.
  • Ensure Brewery Door staff and trainees receive the right training and leadership.
  • Manage the performance of each member of the Brewery Door staff to maximize potential.
  • Work with the Head Brewer on technical training for bar and waiting staff.
  • Security of cash and stock
  • Management of retail events, tours and live music gigs
  • Support staff in their duties by:
  • Allocating and prioritising their tasks.
  • Supervising their breaks.
  • Encouraging them to work efficiently and with a strong service ethic.
  • Providing on the job training when required.
Develop and improve operational systems of the Brewery Door
  • Create, implement and improve policies, systems and procedures.
  • Ensure all communications between Brewery Door and kitchen run smoothly.
Manage the Brewery Door budget and accounts functions
  • Be accountable for achieving sales and cost targets for the Brewery Door as set in the budget.
  • Manage all Brewery Door stock purchasing and stock management.
  • Work with Operations Manager to develop a budget for the department.
  • Perform regular stock takes as specified in our procedures.
  • Work with the Administration Manager to maintain budget control, staff ratios and planning requirements for cash change and till floats.

This position involves:

  • When required, working as a front-line member of the team in the Brewery Door.
  • Other duties as directed.
  • We target all employees to work no more than 38.5hours per week on avergae across a year

Skills Required

  • A proven leader with experience in hospitality/tourism at a management level
  • Demonstrated skills in high standards of customer service
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Workforce management and planning experience
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently
  • Proven ability to work within financial budgets
  • Experience in menu planning
  • Ability to develop and document operating systems and procedures and comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Ability to act ethically and fairly at all times
  • Mature attitude, honest, loyal and exceptional work ethic
  • Computer savvy (POS systems, E-mail, MS Word, MS Excel)

Authority

Without further approval, the Venue Manager may:

  • Incur costs budgeted in the retail budget
  • Roster staff in accordance with the dollar amounts allowed in the retail budget.
  • Provide staff with feedback on their work performance

With the approval of the Operations Manager, the Venue Manager may:

  • Make any changes to the Brewery Door set up that you believe will improve its profitability (e.g. seating layout, menu, opening hours, equipment, etc.)
  • Initiate events
  • Initiate sales promotions
  • Implement growth strategies
  • Terminate a staff member (must have Operations Manager approval), unless situation requires immediate action

The Venue Manager may not:

  • Incur costs additional to the retail budget without prior permission of the Operations Manager
