BRIGHT BREWERY SHINES BRIGHT AT 2023 IBA AWARDS: EVIN CRANEY NAMED YOUNG GUN OF THE YEAR

Bright Brewery’s National Sales Manager Evin Craney has won the prestigious Young Gun Of The Year Award and six Bright Brewery beers have been awarded medals at the 2023 IBA Awards held on the Gold Coast on Wednesday 23 August.

With the help of 50 stewards, 65 of the best and emerging judges from Australia, New Zealand & Indonesia spent three days tasting and evaluating some of the best quality beers in the industry.

Head Judge, Justin Fox said: “We are blown away this year at the quality of beers entered. 229 beers were awarded gold, and an incredible 85% of all beers entered received a medal.”

Bright Brewery received the following awards:

Evin Craney, National Sales Manager- Young Gun Of The Year Award
Modern Pale Ale: Bright Pale Ale (Gold)
Amber-Dark Beer: Black Diamond Black IPA (Silver)
Modern Lager: Alpine Lager (Silver)
Modern Pale Ale: POW Pale Ale (Bronze)
Traditional India Pale Ale: MIA IPA (Bronze)
British Style Ale: Hellfire Amber Ale (Bronze)

An elated Craney remarked on his win, “It’s a truly and completely unexpected honour to have been named the 2023 IBA Young Gun of the year. Whilst this award was given to me, it’s also a representation of the Bright Brewery team that I am incredibly grateful for. Receiving this award after over a decade in the craft beer industry is incredibly humbling and was only made possible by the inspiring and supportive Bright Brewery team.” He further added, “A huge thanks to all of those who have helped me so far with a special mention to the Grand Poobah of Bright Brewery himself, Scott Brandon, for the opportunity to give back to this amazing industry.”

The Independent Brewers Association’s (IBA) conference is one of the biggest events in Australia’s beer calendar and was held at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre. The conference concludes with the Independent Beer Awards (the Indies), held to celebrate and support the quality of independent beer in Australia.

Darker Days postponed

Darkness has come!

Based on the latest Victorian COVID lockdown, we’re devastated to say that Darker Days 2021 has been postponed.

Sadly, we were just 36 hours away from Darker Days 2021 when Victoria went back into a hard lockdown last Friday, July 16.

However…
The show will go on! We are committed to running this festival this year, after COVID has shafted our plans twice in the past 12 months.
We are working furiously on a new plan, to ensure our artists, our vendors, and you, our beloved customers, are supported and can enjoy Darker Days this year!
Some of our musicians and artists were already on their way to Bright when lockdown was announced.
We will have more to say on this very soon and we’d love your support in the meantime.
All ticketholders have been contacted via email and are legally eligible for a refund – however – we’d love it if you could bear with us until we can announce our new plan.
If you’re unable to attend the rescheduled date, you will, of course, be able to receive a refund.

High Country Collab Case: a cure for what ales

Each September for the past seven years, High Country brewers have gathered at one of the region’s famous craft breweries to work side-by-side, pooling their knowledge and experience to create a special signature collaborative ale under their own Rule #47 label.

But this year, COVID-19 has meant the annual collaborative brew day won’t happen.

The good news is that this innovative bunch have instead thrown their collective efforts into producing Collab Cases featuring selections of standout beers from seven of the High Country breweries – Bright Brewery, Blizzard Brewing (Dinner Plain), Black Dog Brewery (Taminick), Bridge Road Brewers (Beechworth), King River Brewery (King Valley), Mitta Mitta Brewing Co, Billson’s Brewery (Beechworth).

Collab Cases are available online for anyone in lockdown dreaming of a High Country Brewery Trail road trip or for a loved one in need of a gift of good cheer. Or anyone anywhere in Australia keen to enjoy the best brews from Victoria’s High Country this Spring!

There are three Collab Cases to choose from each packed with a mouthwatering variety of 24 bottles or cans of fine seasonal and limited-releases, plus a couple of core faves, from each. They are:

● Light & Bright: 24 x Pale beers. A vibrant selection of Ginger Beer, Fruited Sours, Hoppy Ales, IPAs, and more.

All sessions will run for 1 hour and 45 minutes, after which time, guests will vacate the venue so it can be thoroughly cleaned ahead of the next session, in accordance with government regulations.

Due to government regulations, a maximum of six people may sit at each table. You are welcome to book for a larger party but you will need to split over multiple tables.

When you make your booking, please let us know whether you’d prefer to sit inside or outside. But please also note that, while we will do our absolute best to accommodate, weather and government regulations may mean we are unable to accommodate all requests. If seating requests exceed capacity in a dining space, requests will be accommodated on a first-booked, first-seated basis.

Please also note that, due to government regulations, all customers dining with us are required to be having a meal, and must provide their name and phone number.

Booked tables will be held for 15 minutes past the booked time. If you are unable to make your booked time, please let us know in advance, so we can offer the table to someone on our waitlist. After being closed for so long, we’re keen for as many people as possible to have the chance to enjoy a Bright Brewery experience.

Walk-in customers

We are happy to accommodate walk-in customers – if we are not already at capacity within the venue. All walk-in customers will be required to vacate at the end of the session, and to provide their name, address, email, and phone number, as per government regulations. However, we encourage anyone planning to visit us to book in advance.
