Bright Brewery is thrilled to announce the fourth annual release of Fred’s International Women’s Day (IWD) beer – ‘Trail Blazer Motueka IPA’, a special brew crafted by the women of Bright Brewery in honour of our pioneering founder, Fiona “Fred” Reddaway.
Led by Assistant Brewers Madi Bruce and Claire Lock, the brewing of Fred’s has become a significant event for the women of Bright Brewery. Over 80 female staff members have now participated in the annual Fred’s brew day over the years, a tradition that even inspired Madi and Claire’s own paths to becoming Assistant Brewers. This year, over 20 women contributed to the brew. The vibrant can design, once again, features the artwork of Melbourne artist Lynn Bremner.
Fred’s Trail Blazer Motueka IPA isn’t just a delicious beer; it’s a commitment to supporting women in the brewing industry. Part proceeds from all sales of cans and kegs will be donated directly to the Pink Boots Society Australia, an organisation dedicated to empowering and advancing women in the Australian brewing and fermentation fields.
“Fred’s legacy is deeply woven into the fabric of Bright Brewery,” says Madi. “She was the heart and soul of this place, and we’re passionate about keeping her memory alive. Fred was a fierce advocate for women, so naming our International Women’s Day beer after her felt like the perfect tribute.”
Join us in raising a glass to Fred and all the incredible women in brewing! Look out for Fred’s Trail Blazer Motueka IPA at the Bright Brewery Brewpub, online store and select retailers, in early March. We’ll also be hosting our annual Fred’s IWD Long Lunch on Thursday, March 6 2025, 12pm-2:30pm. Tickets and information are available here.
