Fred’s IWD Beer

Celebrating the third release of our all-female made beer!

We’ve brewed up something very exciting here in Bright.

In honour of International Women’s Day, we’re very proud to release the third edition of a new beer that’s very special to all of us.

Named in honour of our pioneering founder, the late Fiona ‘Fred’ Reddaway, the ‘Apricot NEIPA’ was developed by the women of Bright Brewery under the guidance of Madi Bruce, Bright’s Assistant Brewer.

The project was a highlight of the year for many of us here at the Brewery, so we decided to make it an annual event and celebrate the 2024 launch with the Fred’s Long Lunch event.

More than 20 of our female staff were involved in the brewing and packaging of the beer; and the beautiful can design was illustrated by Melbourne artist, Lynn Bremner.

Part-proceeds from all cans and kegs of Fred’s sold go directly to Pink Boots Society Australia – an organisation which supports and empowers women in the brewing and fermentation industries in Australia.

“Honouring Fiona’s legacy is a big part of life at Bright Brewery,” Madi said. “She was the beating heart of the brewery before she passed away, and keeping her legacy alive is important to all of us. Fiona was a champion for women and naming our first International Women’s Day beer after her seemed like the perfect idea.“
