Annual Hop Harvest

A celebration of hops

The mighty hop – beer’s essential ingredient

As the closest brewery to the Southern Hemisphere’s largest Hop Farm – HPA’s Rostrevor Hop Garden at Eurobin – the annual Hop Harvest is a very special time for us here at Bright Brewery.

Watching the fresh hops climb, day by day, until they are ready for harvest in early March is a unique experience that we are proud to be a part of – and it’s something we love to celebrate.

Hops are harvested only once a year – which means breweries, like ours, can only use these fresh, green, straight-from-the-bine hops only once a year.

And so, while brewers from all over Australia travel to Eurobin to pick up their fresh hops, our proximity to the Hop Gardens means we can pick up our beautiful, locally-grown hops, take them straight back to the brewhouse in Bright and add them fresh to our beer within 30 minutes.

It doesn’t get any fresher than that!

Our collaboration with HPA

We share a special relationship with Hop Products Australia in this special part of the world.

Hops are an integral ingredient and being able to use the world’s freshest and best locally-sourced hops from just down the road is what gives our beer a unique High Country flavour.

We value our close relationship with HPA, and are proud to collaborate on several beers a year, including our annual fresh Hop Harvest and High Country Brewery Trail brews.

Hop Harvest Beers

With such quick and easy access to world-class hops, we take our fresh hopped beers pretty seriously!

2023

Cold & Wet Cold IPA and Cold & Dry Cold IPA

In 2023, we collaborated on a fresh hop release with our friends from Revel Brewing on the Sunshine Coast. The result was a duo of beers designed to showcase the different characteristics of wet and dry hops. Cold & Wet Cold IPA was brewed with fresh, wet Galaxy and Vic Secret hops from HPA, while Cold & Dry Cold IPA used dry T-90 HPA hops.

2021 & 2022

North East Victoria IPA (NEVIPA)

NEVIPA is an ode to our beautiful High Country home, brewed with freshly picked whole hop cones, harvested on the day from local hop fields, and mountain botanicals foraged by our brewers. The taste of the north east, a true expression of place with a unique medley of citrus aromas and a fresh, mountain flavour.
