Bright Beauty - Hop Harvest 2012
We do tend to do things rather passionately here at Bright Brewery. And why wouldn't we? With fresh hops in abundance just down the road, the pristine Ovens River flowing past the brewery door, nearby mountains to paraglide over, and abundant sweet singletrack to ride!
In a nutshell we imbibe and indulge in the brewing life...
Which brings us to our latest creation, the Harvest 150 Ale. Each year in hop harvest season we strive to brew something very special using freshly picked hop flowers.
Using traditional brewing techniques and hops from our own Ovens Valley, we have produced the Harvest 150 Ale in honour of the township of Bright's 150th anniversary. Freshly picked whole flowers were used generously in the whirlpool, hopback and in dry hopping. However this beer isn't just about the hops - the chewy, rich malt structure makes it perfect for our cool climate.
The Harvest 150 Ale was officially launched at Bright Brewery last Friday, the 11th of May during our Locals Day. Official proceedings were led by John Kroeger - chairman of Bright's 150th Anniversary committee, egged on by the rowdy mob from Alpine Actors, and drowned out by our resident banjo-pluckin' Rudi Katterl!
Thankyou for celebrating with us and sharing the passion! |
